My Success Story
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick societyJiddu Krishnamurti

You must put yourself first.

By putting yourself first, you can attain your personal best, and then you are in a great position to help everyone else that you care about to attain their best.

Simple? No!

Well – Yes, actually.

If you have flown on a commercial airline, in the event of an emergency, they tell you to put your own oxygen mask on BEFORE you attend to your kids – if you’re overcome by fumes and unconscious because you did not put your oxygen mask on first, you are not going to be of much help during the rescue – YOU are the one that then has to be rescued, because you did not put yourself first. You then become a major problem to everyone on the plane AND your family, because you are unconscious and you have a 3-year-old breathing through a mask who some-one else is going to have to either help or abandon – all because you did not put yourself first.

Swap the plane scenario for your life in the world, and you can draw your own conclusions.

You become a problem to yourself, your family and society if you do not put yourself first. Not many people tell you this. The garbage that most people are led to believe is that they have to put everyone and everything else first before themselves – their job, their clients, their kids, their country – No, wrong, WRONG!

Put yourself first.

That means:

  • You must find 30 minutes every day to exercise;
  • You must eat properly;
  • You must allow time to rest (especially rest your mind); and
  • You must allow time for doing stuff that you really like to do, because that is a huge component to a happy life.

Notice, I said MUST MUST MUST MUST.

For years (no, decades) I kept putting everyone and everything else first. My boss, work, clients, my finances, my family, my interests – and I treated myself as an afterthought.

I ate as an afterthought – I ate out of pure habit (very bad habits), without thinking about anything in my daily nutrition except taste. I ate for comfort and stress relief, I ate as a distraction, and I ate the types of foods that you can just eat and eat and they never fill you … Nutella by the spoon, for example.

After years of putting everyone else first, I became fat, and I stayed fat. Three times during the past 30 years I snapped and went on a health kick and lost the weight… and then I put it back on again after a few years.

The technical reason that I became fat and remained so, was that after years of poor eating, I developed insulin resistance, which meant that no matter how much I dieted, I could never keep the weight off because the insulin resistance remained active in my body (and crucially, this is where fasting is the key to rebooting your hormones).

The philosophical (and much more human) reason that I became fat and remained so, was that I did not put myself first. I did not even know how to. And, because I did not know how to put myself first, I got fat, I hated the way I looked, I got sick and tired, I got stressed, I got depressed, and I just radiated negative vibes to everyone around me, which just added fuel to the fire.

I decided very consciously to put myself first, and keep myself first.

From that, Nysteia was created.

With the creation of Nysteia, if you simply do what Andrew and I tell you to do, we will likely add years to your life, and the lives of everyone you care about.

We believe that in Nysteia, we have invented the most sophisticated and holistic system for living well ever presented – and it was invented because I put myself first.

I was asked by the Nysteia website designers to write about my “success story”.

I thought about it a lot, and every time I tried to write about my personal journey, it didn’t mean “success” to me.

I thought about writing a few uplifting paragraphs: “John was fat and depressed. John then followed the Nysteia principles and now John looks and feels fantastic, and wow, how great I am to be such a success… aren’t I successful?… look at me, I am a GIGANTIC success!”… blah, blah, blah.

That’s not success in my world view.

With Nysteia, I have actually achieved nothing more than to simply return to biological human normality.

I have simply rediscovered what it is to be a fully-fledged human being – fit, strong, healthy, vital, and happy.

So, how can becoming normal again be termed a “success”. And yet, “normal” is really quite rare, because two-thirds of adults are abnormally fat!

This is the result of a sick society. This is the dividend of our materialism and consumption – more, more, MORE… until we explode out of our pants.

No – less, less, less. Nysteia is not about more complexity. It is a return to truth and simplicity, a return to normality. It is a rediscovery of the hidden truth which is already within you.

My real success story is only being told right now, as you are reading this. Your success is my success, that’s how I see it.

Put Nysteia into action, and you will return to normal again, you will become the best version of you.

My success story will be you.

Put yourself first.

I wish you all the best, every happiness, peace, prosperity – a happy, healthy, longer life.

Have that for yourself, and I will be successful.
