When we talk about processed foods, we’re not talking about a process such as making cheese from milk, or making mince from meat.

The types of processed foods that you should avoid are products which have been subjected to chemical processing and artificial refinement. This type of chemical processing very often contains artificial additives and preservatives, colours, chemical flavourings, and even substances which give the product a particular texture and feel inside the mouth.

Examples of processed foods include packaged breakfast cereals, frozen pizzas and TV dinners, cakes, biscuits, sausage rolls and deli meats, soft drinks, seed oils, margarines, and most processed foods which are labelled “low fat”.

These foods are typically packed with sugar and high fructose corn syrup. They are designed to taste fantastic, and they are designed to be addictive to eat. They are also designed NOT to be filling, so that you can eat more of these types of foods without feeling full. They are a central reason for the obesity and diabetes global catastrophe.

You will make a gigantic contribution to your health by totally avoiding these processed foods, and concentrating on eating whole foods, better known as real food.
